Join our Foster Network and Together we can Save More Dogs

AJL and PPAR are always in need of fosters to help us save more dogs.  If you are interested in fostering, please submit a foster application. Once your application is received, one of our volunteers will reach out to you to discuss our foster program and available dogs.

Below you will find FAQs to help you better understand what it means to be a Foster!

AJL & PPAR Foster FAQs

  • Start by submitting an application using the link below. Once your application is submitted, our team of volunteers will begin to review your application and we will be in touch to discuss the application review process and next steps. You can find our application at
  • Anyone who loves dogs and can give them a loving home! (We do have application requirements – see later FAQs – and some dogs have additional specific requirements about the types of home they can go to). You do not need to be a current or former dog Pawrent to apply to foster. If you are a first time pet parent, that is ok, we will make sure to place a dog with you that would meet your experience level. If you can give a dog love and patience, a comfy place to sleep, food and cuddles, you can be a foster.
  • We ask for vet and personal references in order to process your application for fostering. Some specific dogs may have additional requirements depending on the dog’s specific needs, but we do not require a yard or fence to be approved as a foster. Once approved as a foster, our team can provide you with information on dogs that would be a fit for your environment based on their needs.
  • Yes! We love when “foster fails” lead to happy tails forever! If a foster wants to adopt their foster dog, they are permitted to do so as long as they meet the requirements set for that specific dog’s needs and they let our coordinators know before the dog has an approved adopter waiting for them. If you are looking to adopt but want to start with fostering that is totally fine – communication is key!
